The Alhambra 9P Classical Guitar features very well balanced projection of treble and bass strings, and is also designed for comfort and optimal playability. This instrument is available in both spruce and cedar. (Click here to hear the pronunciation of "Alhambra".)  The 9P is basically identical to the 8P other than it's body depth is 5mm greater, it features the ErgoNeck, and has a different rosette.

But richness is not the only thing:  The action is also just perfect: high enough to make the guitar sing but extremely comfortable.  The sound projection is amazing. Basses, mediums and trebles are very well-balanced. You have a full control of the voices and can emphasize whatever voice you want without any struggle, therefore you become the conductor and have a complete orchestra under your fingers.

The Alhambra 9P features Alhambra's ErgoNeck. The ErgoNeck is the result of the continuous research developed by Alhambra Manufactures to improve the ergonomics of the neck. Thus, we can favor the position of the left hand. Due to its asymmetric shape, the ErgoNeck can be adapted in a more natural way to the guitarist.  (See illustration above.)

Recommended Strings: This guitar comes with D'Addario EXP44 Extra Hard Tension strings installed.  These are not bad strings, but don't allow the guitar to live up to its full potential.  I recommend the following strings for this guitar:

Carbon: My favorite strings of all I've tried are Savarez Alliance set 540J. These strings provide great volume and resonance.  Being Carbon, they are a bit thinner in diameter than nylon strings. The tone is brighter and not as mellow as nylon strings. If you want a softer sound, nylon may suit you better.

Nylon: For nylon strings, I really like Savarez Corum New Cristal set 500CJ or D'Addario Pro Arte Dynacore Titanium set EJ46TT.  Both provide a nice round tone, good volume, and a comfortable feel.

If you would like to have strings installed other than the ones that come with your guitar, you can add the Strings Installation Service to your order.

Excellent Experience - Alhambra 9P

I was very impressed with the personal attention give to the purchase of this guitar. I had a number concerns having tried other guitars in this price range, and Geoff addressed them all. The guitar arrived well packed and set up just as ordered. I'll check XGuitars first from now on when looking for a classical guitar.

Geoff is THE MAN!

I purchased 2 Alhambras from here and I must say the service was A1! Geoff is really helpful, super communicative and honest. When making this kind of investment in your craft you expect decent service but XGuitars really goes above and beyond. Both Guitars were exactly as Geoff said they’d be, and both arrived in a timely manner damn near ready to play right out the case. Really could not ask for more, I 1000% recommend doing business here. I will be doing so myself for the foreseeable future.

Amazing Alhambra Cedar 9P!

After almost a year of researching, and trying to make up my mind: cedar or spruce, Cordoba or Alhambra, I finally settled on the Alhambra Cedar 9P, a few weeks ago. I wanted to say "I couldn't have been happier", but I don't know that for sure, since I never played that Cordoba or the Spruce version. But I CAN say that I'm VERY pleased with the 9P!
It's an absolute beauty, and it has a remarkable full bodied sound, well balanced and with just the richness and warmth I was looking for. I also really like the neck contour!
Geoff's expert advice and prompt responses to my emails were very much appreciated. He even adjusted the shipping day so that the guitar wouldn't sit at some UPS storage over the weekend (in who knows what kind of temperatures!): details like that show you that he truly cares about his products!
As for spruce versus cedar: the XGuitars website has songs that let me compare them played on either one of the P9s, which helped me greatly with making my decision! But if I ever have a need for that typical 'spruce' sound, I know where to order it! ;-)
If I would have to name one less than stellar experience (and I'm kidding here!), then it was that sticker on the box, that told me to wait four hours before unpacking the guitar to give it a chance to adjust to the temperature and humidity in my house: those were a torturous four hours! ;-)
Overall, I'm very happy with the purchase, and the highly recommended buying experience!

FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE INDEED!!

I would like to start by saying WOW!!!! I bought the absolute fantastic Alhambra P9 Cedar top, the guitar without a doubt it worth every penny, the look, the sound, the smell of the wood, the strings vibration, really everything about this guitar is absolutely all there.

Now, on top of all the above, the experience I had with Geoffrey was second to none, he is 100% a true gentleman, extremely knowledgeable on classical and flamingo guitars, I was going for a different guitar, but Geoffrey suggested me the Alhambra once I explained to him what I was looking for and boy was he right on the money!! also every guitar that Geoffrey send out it is fully inspected, my setup was impeccable to say the list, I'm a super happy camper and I'd like to thank Geoffrey so so much for his service, for his knowledge and recommendations, and for the absolutely fantastic way he handled this transaction, if you thinking to pull the trigger on anyone of Geoffrey's fantastic guitars, and you want a true professional experience, do not hold back you will not be disappointed, and above all it is better to live reach than die reach!!! Just buy a guitar you will live happier.
Many thanks Geoffrey.
