Alhambra 5P CW E8 - Cutaway Classical Guitar w/ Fishman Flex M Blend Preamp

$1,899.00

The Alhambra 5P CW E8 Cutaway Classical Guitar is a beautiful classical guitar with an internal microphone, undersaddle pickup, onboard EQ, and cutaway. The Alhambra 5P improves upon the 4P by adding an ebony bar embedded in the neck. This bar helps keep the neck straight as it ages and also slightly boosts the sustain. The 5P CW E8 has the great sound of an Alhambra with the ability to amplify. The neck is 2mm less wide than standard, making it a bit easier to play. (Click here to hear the pronunciation of "Alhambra".)

Note: The guitar shown in the first photo has a different preamp installed. The guitar you would receive does have the Flex M Blend, as shown in the second photo. Updated photos showing the Flex M Blend installed in this guitar to be added soon.

Made from great quality woods, Red Cedar for the top and laminated Indian Rosewood for the back and sides, the first thing calling your attention is the light weight. That is the kind of instrument that will ring and vibrate. A beautiful and high quality Ebony is used for the fingerboard. As you turn the guitar you notice that the neck is reinforced with an ebony strip instead of truss rod. Compacter and lighter, it conducts vibrations much better to the body and allows to guitar to fully vibrate from the head to bottom of the body. You really feel it as you strum the first chords.

The Alhambra 5P CW E8 is set up with an action height that is approximately 0.5mm lower than a standard classical guitar's action.

Recommended Strings: This guitar comes with D'Addario EXP44 Extra Hard Tension strings installed.  These are not bad strings, but don't allow the guitar to live up to its full potential.  I recommend the following strings for this guitar:

Carbon: My favorite strings of all I've tried are Savarez Alliance set 540J. These strings provide great volume and resonance.  Being Carbon, they are a bit thinner in diameter than nylon strings. The tone is brighter and not as mellow as nylon strings. If you want a softer sound, nylon may suit you better.

Nylon: For nylon strings, I really like Savarez Corum New Cristal set 500CJ stings.  They provide a nice round tone, good volume, and a comfortable feel.

If you would like to have strings installed other than the ones that come with your guitar, you can add the Strings Installation Service to your order.

At Last!

Alhambra 5P CW E8

I have played guitar for over 40 years. Professionally full time for 9 years and semi-pro now as a single and occasional studio player. This purchase was my first classical guitar! I've owned an Gibson "64 ES-335, '67 ES-345, '48 L-7, Fender Custom build Tele, '64 Strat, ' 63 Epiphone Riveria, '85 Robert Ehlers, 2015 17" Eastman Jazz Elite... and many more. All that said, I have been fortunate to play some very nice instruments into a number of fine amps, both live and in the studio.

I love this guitar! The responsiveness to the touch is delightful... yielding a wide tonal spectrum. Then, to add a mic to the Fishman bridge pickup, you get even more tone goodies at your finger tips! So far, I've recorded it on a nice ribbon mic and a nice condenser without plugging it in. Just Lovely!

My buying experience went smoothly with much appreciated insights in making my choice from an amazing selection of instruments. Naturally, I shopped this purchase quite diligently since there are so many makers out there, and I was on a budget, as many of us are. I am so pleased with my purchase! The guitar's workmanship and detail surpassed my expectations.

Obviously, I highly recommend my 5P CW E8 and XGuitars..

Cheers,

Jay

Dear XGuitars

I received my Alhambra 5P CW E8 last week and am very happy with the instrument and my buying experience. As promised, the guitar was flawless on arrival, well protected in its packaging (I saved the box) and in a handsome hard shell new case. Once tuned, the guitar delivered everything I expected: a deep crisp bass response, with brilliantly ringing trebles – more so than I am used to, and I have had some nice guitars, including a Ramirez 1a.

Playability and set-up are superb; the guitar practically plays itself. I feel no discomfort (other than due to my age), after up to two hours of play. I am still experimenting with the electronics and amplified sound production, but do no hear any unpleasant overtones or feedback, either when playing through my Fishman Mini or Bose L1 PA system. (I tend to play with little or no equalization or effects, but the E8 sound system both looks good – with its low profile discreet knobs, and delivers enough volume without distortion for all practical venues I am likely to perform.) Lastly, the guitar’s craftmanship is perfect, and the overall aesthetics - gorgeous.

I would recommend XGuitars to anyone who is looking for quality, service, and a painless buy. Geoff returned all my calls promptly, and keep me informed by email all the way up until when the guitar was delivered.

Thank you XGuitars.
