D’Addario High Tension Carbon on Alhambra 9P

Gave these strings a try on my Alhambra 9P after trying the Savarez Alliance HT High Tension strings recommended by XGuitars. The Savarez strings woke up the guitar in an amazing way, but the high E string seemed a bit bright in the higher positions. The D’Addario strings were not quite as bright and were “okay” I guess. The volume balance between the D string and the G string seemed to get worse over time; I’m not a big fan of the Dynacore basses either. These strings cost more than other strings in this class so I probably won’t use them on this guitar again. That may be great on a different guitar. I’ve tried most of the D’Addario alternatives to nylon over the years and never really liked them. But I always keep a couple of packs of the D’Addario EJ44 Pro-Arte Nylon Extra-Hard Tension on hand. These are the most consistent, “pretty darn good”, and inexpensive nylon strings I have have found and work well on most guitars. XGuitars has the lowest price on these strings among all the online sellers.
