Description

THE ALHAMBRA 10 PREMIER

Well-balanced bass, mid-range and treble and an incredible sound projection, the Alhambra 10 Premier is a modern guitar aimed at today's guitarist.  With the 10 Premier model, the Alhambra guitar craftsmen have applied the experience accumulated over the years in the development of classic guitars. (Click here to hear the pronunciation of "Alhambra".)

Medley of "Torija" (F.M. Torroba) / "Prelude, Fugue and Allegro" (J.S. Bach) / "Sounds of Bells" (J. Pernambuco) played by David Stevenson

From the model 8P to the 11P, the instruments are built by a small group of artisans where, progressively, each model acquires more time of elaboration, design, and detail.  The model 10 Premier has a bracing design that maximizes its volume and projection.

All guitars set up and shipped from XGuitars have a perfect string height: high enough to contribute to the sound, but at the same time with just the right height to be extremely comfortable.  The 10 Premier is a guitar with incredible sound projection and well-balanced bass, mid, and treble tones. The Alhambra 10 Premier is truly a modern guitar designed for today's guitarist.

QUALITY AND DETAILS

The model 10 Premier by Alhambra Guitars is designed and crafted with details that increase the performance of this instrument.  The finishes of this model show an important craftwork and a very refined image.

Twelve holes in the bridge, bone nut and saddle, very efficient machine heads, and a double line of green in the profiles provide the model 10 Premier aesthetic qualities, but at the same time comfort and good sound.

A design with the neck called "ergoneck", which contributes the comfort of the guitarist, and where the fingerboard is extended by the mouth of the soundboard to introduce the 20th fret: a design requested by the guitarists and the compositions of today.

It is difficult to imagine all the possibilities offered by this instrument, where the sound quality of the first string is especially noteworthy.  The Alhambra 10 Premier is definitely, a modern guitar to respond to the highest demands of today's guitarist.

IMPORTANT: This guitar features a 12-hole bridge.  This design puts the strings at a higher angle relative to the saddle, allowing a greater transfer of energy into the top of the guitar at the saddle.  This gives this guitar extra volume and resonance.  It is very important that the strings are tied properly to prevent slipping.  For instructions on how to tie the strings, please see the video below:

Recommended Strings: This guitar comes with D'Addario EXP44 Extra Hard Tension strings installed.  These are not bad strings, but don't allow the guitar to live up to its full potential.  I recommend the following strings for this guitar:

Carbon: My favorite strings of all I've tried are Savarez Alliance set 540J. These strings provide great volume and resonance.  Being Carbon, they are a bit thinner in diameter than nylon strings. The tone is brighter and not as mellow as nylon strings. If you want a softer sound, nylon may suit you better.

Nylon: For nylon strings, I really like Savarez Corum New Cristal set 500CJ strings.  They provide a nice round tone, good volume, and a comfortable feel.

If you would like to have strings installed other than the ones that come with your guitar, you can add the Strings Installation Service to your order.

Ahhh - Much better

Thank you, Geoff, the action is just right. The upgrade to this guitar from my 50 Y.O. Garcia has improved my playing, such as it is. Decades ago I switched from a Selmer to a Buffet R13 clarinet and that experience taught me that it is wise to invest in a very good instrument to improve your playing skills. This Alhambra 10 premier makes me want to play more often and longer. It is a beautifully crafted instrument! It's also good to know XGuitars is available for expert service, if needed.

Alhambra 10 Premier Classical Guitar

I have a couple of excellent classical guitars that I enjoy playing however, the ease of working the neck on the Alhambra is just awesome. Sonically it is outstanding with the Savarez 500CJ strings that Geoff recommended. Projection is very good and the tonality is well, just exquisite! And BTW the service at XGuitars is equally excellent.

Exactly what I wanted for my next guitar

I spent a long time considering my next classical guitar. There are so many options. I have been playing guitar for over 40 years, not all of it classical. I’m not going to be a professional guitarist but I wanted a quality instrument because I love guitar. Aside from getting a luthier built guitar, this Alhambra 10 Premier is fantastic guitar for the price.

It is a beautiful instrument. The dynamic range is amazing. It feels great in the hands. It is well balanced and even smells great. I opted to keep the manufacturer’s strings and they are really good but I will try Geoff’s recommended strings to see if it can be even better.

There aren’t any classical guitar stores close to home where I can go play guitars in person so I was apprehensive about spending this much money on a guitar I had never seen or played. From the great reviews and the return policy, I felt pretty good about buying from XGuitars. Geoff was very helpful and patient. He helped me decide the best guitar for my price range. I will buy from him again! Thanks Geoff!

Impressive guitar

This is a very nice guitar. It has very good balance across the strings, excellent loudness, sustain and it also looks quite premium. Playability is excellent and the wood smell is pleasant. It is definitely a cut above the 8/9p and well worth the extra cost. Mine had a few very tiny "pimples" on the top wood surface finish that I caught by chance, may be an annoyance to someone overly picky. Overall highly recommend.

Excellent Classical Guitar

I very much like my new Alhambra 10 Premier. The Cedar top was my preference, as it projects the warm and balanced sound that I was expecting out of a classical instrument. Spruce, takes longer to 'come into its own' (unless Torrified) than Cedar and is, in my opinion, too bright for this type of guitar.
I already own a Martin with a Spruce top and Indian Rosewood back and sides and there is a profound difference in the sound - body type and strings notwithstanding.
The construction is superb. The wood used is AA+, and guitar is an instrument of beauty. The sound is beautiful, and I hope to do it justice more and more over time. The set by Geoff was perfect. Overall a great guitar!
