The Alhambra 8P Classical Guitar is a step up from the 7P in its design and its origins. Built from Red Western cedar and high- quality Indian rosewood, the instrument is finished with a superior nitrocellulose lacquer that allows the maximum vibration of the wood. This provides a robust sound without sacrificing the clarity of tone. The 8P is designed and built by a specialized team at the Alhambra facility. (Click here to hear the pronunciation of "Alhambra".)  The Alhambra 8P is basically the same guitar as the Alhambra 9P, but with a slightly deeper body (5mm from top to back) and a slightly thicker neck (0.5mm to 1.5mm).

The Alhambra 8P Classical Guitar features very well-balanced projection of treble and bass strings.  Richness is not the only thing:  The action is also just perfect: high enough to make the guitar sing but extremely comfortable.  The sound projection is amazing. Basses, mediums and trebles are very well-balanced. You have a full control of the voices and can emphasize whatever voice you want without any struggle, therefore you become the conductor and have a complete orchestra under your fingers.
The Alhambra 9P features Alhambra's ErgoNeck. The ErgoNeck is the result of the continuous research developed by Alhambra Manufactures to improve the ergonomics of the neck. Thus, we can favor the position of the left hand. Due to its asymmetric shape, the ErgoNeck can be adapted in a more natural way to the guitarist.  (See illustration above.)

Recommended Strings: This guitar comes with D'Addario EXP44 Extra Hard Tension strings installed.  These are not bad strings, but don't allow the guitar to live up to its full potential.  I recommend the following strings for this guitar:

Carbon: My favorite strings of all I've tried are Savarez Alliance set 540J. These strings provide great volume and resonance.  Being Carbon, they are a bit thinner in diameter than nylon strings. The tone is brighter and not as mellow as nylon strings. If you want a softer sound, nylon may suit you better.

Nylon: For nylon strings, I really like Savarez Corum New Cristal set 500CJ stings.  They provide a nice round tone, good volume, and a comfortable feel.l.

If you would like to have strings installed other than the ones that come with your guitar, you can add the Strings Installation Service to your order.

Great Guitar, Great Service

This guitar really has a great sound and feel. Geoff at XGuitars was a pleasure to work with and helped guide throughout the purchase process. Living fairly close and a bit reluctant about online guitar buying. I met with Geoff to try a few models that I was interested in. It was the best guitar buying experience ever. I highly recommend this guitar and XGuitars.

Great Guitar!

This is the most expensive guitar I've bought so far and I love it. I've had an Alhambra 3C for more than eight years, and this 8P is a huge upgrade. The sound is rich and the guitar is easy to play. Also thank Geoff for all the information and suggestions!

The best student guitar with a big sound

I got my guitar 2829 days ago, I think 2014. The 8P has a 5mm shallower body depth than other Alhambra guitars and it is easy to hold for a small person like me. I also got it as a B stock which makes it attractive to ditch my Takamine cutaway for a real Spanish guitar. It has been a steady companion for my guitar student recitals and concert for the seniors. The sound is very loud and easy to play. I did have to get the saddle file down a little for easier play near the bridge. The body construction is quite durable: it barely has any scratches and no dents. After I got the M&M guitar, my 8P has retired to being a backup when I go to guitar lessons or rehearsals with my band away from home. It still sounds very loud and appealing and a great guitar to have for performance and practice.
