The Alhambra 8P Classical Guitar is a step up from the 7P in its design and its origins. Built from Red Western cedar and high- quality Indian rosewood, the instrument is finished with a superior nitrocellulose lacquer that allows the maximum vibration of the wood. This provides a robust sound without sacrificing the clarity of tone. The 8P is designed and built by a specialized team at the Alhambra facility. (Click here to hear the pronunciation of "Alhambra".)

The Alhambra 8P features Alhambra's ErgoNeck. The ErgoNeck is the result of the continuous research developed by Alhambra Manufactures to improve the ergonomics of the neck. Thus, we can favor the position of the left hand. Due to its asymmetric shape, the ErgoNeck can be adapted in a more natural way to the guitarist.  (See illustration above.)

Recommended Strings: This guitar comes with D'Addario EXP44 Extra Hard Tension strings installed.  These are not bad strings, but don't allow the guitar to live up to its full potential.  I recommend the following strings for this guitar:

Carbon: My favorite strings of all I've tried are Savarez Alliance set 540J. These strings provide great volume and resonance.  Being Carbon, they are a bit thinner in diameter than nylon strings. The tone is brighter and not as mellow as nylon strings. If you want a softer sound, nylon may suit you better.

Nylon: For nylon strings, I really like Savarez Corum New Cristal set 500CJ or D'Addario Pro Arte Dynacore Titanium set EJ46TT.  Both provide a nice round tone, good volume, and a comfortable feel.

If you would like to have strings installed other than the ones that come with your guitar, you can add the Strings Installation Service to your order.

Great Guitar!

This is the most expensive guitar I've bought so far and I love it. I've had an Alhambra 3C for more than eight years, and this 8P is a huge upgrade. The sound is rich and the guitar is easy to play. Also thank Geoff for all the information and suggestions!

The best student guitar with a big sound

I got my guitar 2829 days ago, I think 2014. The 8P has a 5mm shallower body depth than other Alhambra guitars and it is easy to hold for a small person like me. I also got it as a B stock which makes it attractive to ditch my Takamine cutaway for a real Spanish guitar. It has been a steady companion for my guitar student recitals and concert for the seniors. The sound is very loud and easy to play. I did have to get the saddle file down a little for easier play near the bridge. The body construction is quite durable: it barely has any scratches and no dents. After I got the M&M guitar, my 8P has retired to being a backup when I go to guitar lessons or rehearsals with my band away from home. It still sounds very loud and appealing and a great guitar to have for performance and practice.

Alhambra 8P

I purchased this guitar new from Geoff at XGuitars and have to say I am pleased beyond my expectations. I had been looking for a new classical guitar as I had a major Birthday coming but unfortunately with Covid19 and all the shutdowns, I was unable to audition in person any of the guitars I was looking at. So I was forced to choose based on reviews and recommendations from sales associates, etc. I started with the major stores and tried to pry some recommendations from the sales people based on what I was looking for but to be honest, I didn't find one associate who had any knowledge of classical guitars other than brand. Then through my travels I found XGuitars and talked to Geoff. I went on their website and researched(some more) the brands and reviews but I also used the Sound Clips to compare the sounds of different guitars. Geoff was expertly knowledgeable about every aspect of these classical guitars from make to sound to care to strings. Surprisingly, after listening to the Sound Clips, the guitar I thought I wanted did not have the sound I was looking for and after more research and talking with Geoff decided on this guitar. I don't recommend buying without auditioning but I can tell you I am completely happy with this guitar. Not one iota of regret. It is beautiful, well made but more importantly it has the rich, clean sound I was looking for. Couldn't be happier. Happy Birthday to me! Thanks Geoff!
