The Alhambra 8P is a step up from the 7P in its design and its origins. Built from Red Western cedar and high- quality Indian rosewood, the instrument is finished with a superior nitrocellulose lacquer that allows the maximum vibration of the wood. This provides a robust sound without sacrificing the clarity of tone. The 8P is designed and built by a specialized team at the Alhambra facility.

The Alhambra 8P features Alhambra's ErgoNeck. The ErgoNeck is the result of the continuous research developed by Alhambra Manufactures to improve the ergonomics of the neck. Thus, we can favor the position of the left hand. Due to its asymmetric shape, the ErgoNeck can be adapted in a more natural way to the guitarist.  (See illustration above.)

Features:
Top: Solid Red Cedar
Back/Sides: Solid Rosewood
Neck: Spanish Cedar with Ebony Reinforcement
Fingerboard: Ebony
Scale Length: 650mm
Nut Width: 52mm
Saddle & Nut: Bone - Extra saddle included.

For an improved sound: We have found that Savarez Alliance 540J Hard Tension strings give Alhambra guitars much better tone, resonance, volume, and sustain than the stock strings installed on this guitar.  If you would like to have the strings on your guitar replaced with Savarez Alliance 540J, please CLICK HERE.

Made in Spain

Due to new U.S. export restrictions, we cannot ship guitars built with rosewood to countries outside of the United States.

A professional grade instrument at a good price

The Alhambra 8P was recommended by Geoff after discussing my requirements with him over the phone. I had outgrown my good quality student model. At first I had some interest in another brand which has a lot of favorable web presence, but after our talk he thought I would be happier with the Alhambra 8P. I am SO glad he recommended this instrument!
It is handmade in Spain and very traditional, which suits me well. The quality of workmanship and materials is flawless. The close-grained cedar top speaks clearly and with authority. The body is perfectly sized for me. The photo makes the headstock seem very elongated, but it does not look like that in person. Along with the excellent tuners, it is a very beautiful and classy instrument.
A note on strings: The Alhambra 8P comes from the factory with D'Addario strings. To me the trebles felt (and sounded) like fishing line. I replaced them within a day after receiving the instrument with my favorite brand, Aquila Nylgut. Big difference! A few days later I replaced the basses which I found to be very noisy and lacking in tone, completing the set of Aquila Alabastro Superior (heavy.) Just a few days ago - after a month - I changed these to Normal Tension and I have found perfection. The tone has air around it. The upper register to the 19th fret has an attractive chime. It is very easy to play and disappears under my hands.
I cannot imagine any serious player not liking this instrument.

Classical guitar upgrade

15 years on a student model Rodriquez. I upgraded to an Alhambra 8P. I talked with Xguitars staff to select the right model. Shipping was fast and the guitar was safely smothered in bubble wrap. This guitar is very beautiful and the sound is crisp and sustaining. Love the quality of visual and the wood aroma is a bonus. I think the reviews on the website is an honest representation of each model, and I did not need to worry about playing it before buying. Aaron in KS

Alhambra 8p

Now that I have had the Alhambra 8p classical guitar for several years, I do feel that it has been a very worthwhile purchase and continues increasing in personal value to me. Initially I was very impressed with it, and that certainly has not changed in the time since. If anything I am pleased with how it continues to sound as I grow in my skills as a musician. All qualities still remain from my initial review of the guitar, and as I stated there, it still is a very easy and delightful guitar to play.
