The Aquila 20C is the high tension Alabastro set: Super Nylgut trebles with Alabastro silver-plated copper basses on a Nylgut core, at a tension that gives more volume, sustain, and firmness than the normal-tension 19C. Super Nylgut reproduces the warm, overtone-rich sound of gut strings with the stability and durability of a synthetic, and high tension lets that voice fill a larger room or drive a bigger-bodied guitar.
Aquila is a family-run string maker in Vicenza, Italy, best known for inventing Nylgut, a synthetic material that reproduces the density, feel, and sound of real gut strings without gut's cost, fragility, or sensitivity to humidity. A good match for concert guitars and strong right hands. Nylgut trebles are slightly thicker than nylon at the same pitch, so a small nut-slot adjustment is occasionally needed.
