Description

Woodside Guitar Support GS4-LEV

This is the ultra convenient flip lever / cam lock model.

This support will work on guitars between 79mm and 113mm wide.

Far more reliable than suction cups, used by other brands' guitar support, the Woodside Support's grippers firmly grasp the edge of the instrument.  The Woodside Support's unique (patent applied for) pivoting system compensates for any guitar body depth variation, and grips at all four points equally.

The GS4 utilizes a locking ball and socket mechanism to attach the support pillar to the clamping cradle.  This gives the player the freedom to set up whatever angle they choose between the clamping cradle and the leg rest.

To stow the GS4, simply unscrew the adjuster wheel to remove the support pillar, fold it down, and you're ready to pack your GS4 into a guitar case and hit the road.  The GS4 is made using only premium materials, and built to last a lifetime.

Excellent Guitar Support

I am a former classical guitar teacher and I taught at several elementary art schools in Czechia. I always used a footstool while playing. However, as I got older, I started having back problems. So, I began to take an interest in guitar supports, of which there are many types available on the market today. I tried several types of supports: Sagework, Ergo Play, Gitano, and Woodside. At first glance, I liked the Gitano support because it is small, compact, and with just a slight adjustment in placement on the guitar’s side, you can set the desired tilt of the guitar. A minor drawback was that the suction cups left marks on the sides of the instrument, and there were sometimes issues when I had to repeatedly reattach the Gitano to the guitar because the suction cups didn’t hold perfectly (I had to moisten them, but even then, sometimes the support would fall off). This uncertainty started to bother me, and I returned to the Woodside support, which I initially dismissed because it seemed unhandy and complicated. However, I realized I was wrong. The only thing that takes a bit of time (just a few minutes) is the initial assembly of the support and the subsequent adjustment of the necessary height and pressure so that the support holds on the guitar. It really only requires slight pressure, as the silicone ends of the structure, which touch the guitar's body, adhere perfectly to it and leave no marks on the varnish. Once you set the correct pressure, you just place the support on the guitar and secure it by flipping the lever. The speed and ease of placement are comparable to the Gitano with suction cups. The options for adjusting the height and angle of the support meet all the requirements I can imagine. It is a brilliant design, and I’ve come to like it because it matches my romantic vision of perfect engineering works from the 19th century, like typewriters or sewing machines. I sometimes play in a duet with a violinist, and I’ve always envied how well the violin shoulder rest works. The Woodside works just as well, and I consider it a perfect replacement for the footstool, with the added advantage of protecting your back from injury.

Highly recommended

Plenty of room for adjustment, very secure and comfortable for longer sessions

I like this support very much. I find that suction cups can never be trusted not to slip and this is very stable. The only improvement I might suggest would be to use some kind of textured rubber on the bottom rather than felt. I think this would make it less likely to slide along one's leg.

Woodside Guitar support

This is a great support. Well built, holds the guitar securely. I love the quick lock action. It makes it very fast to put on and take off. Very adjustable as far as the angle and height. And it's very compact to store in the case.

Amazingly built and looking forward to future improvements.

I've been using the support for a few months now, and it really is an amazing support. It was easy to find the position that worked best for me. Typically I use a very low footstool with the woodside support on a low setting. I typically play with the neck tilted forward, and the body of the guilder tilted slightly back; using this combo of support really helped, but I found just using the woodside support on a high setting made it difficult to achieve this angle. If I were to suggest any change, it would be to allow the brass locking mechanism to have its own independent angle adjustment to allow for higher angles at the guitar itself. But even still, this is the support I would recommend to any guitarist looking to buy a reliable support.
