The Alhambra LR5 Pepe Toldo Classical Guitar is the same as the high quality 5P, however it has been modified with the addition of a unique Sound Reflector Port designed by Luthier Pepe Toldo. This enhances the sound projection for the performer, and is designed to reflect the sound quality that the audience hears. (Click here to hear the pronunciation of "Alhambra".)
The Alhambra 5p classical guitar has an very full-bodied and mature sound. It is similar to the 4p, but with a cedar neck, an ebony-reinforcement inside the neck, and rosewood laminate on the interior.
NOTE: The Rosette on this guitar has recently changed. The rosette in the photo below is the current rosette.

Recommended Strings: This guitar comes with D'Addario EXP44 Extra Hard Tension strings installed. These are not bad strings, but don't allow the guitar to live up to its full potential. I recommend the following strings for this guitar:

I gave the purchase of this guitar a lot of thought. I wanted something different and the sound reflector was the main reason for buying it. Always wanted a Spanish guitar , but most were out of my buying range. Guitar has a beautiful clear, sharp sound. Beautifully made and nice to play. The only issue being the action a bit too high for a classical guitar. I’ll fix that. Other than that, happy with my purchase.

I'd be glad to lower your action if you'd like to send me your saddle. Your guitar was shipped with an action of 3.8mm and 3.0mm. Standard classical guitar action is 4.0mm and 3.0mm. I could lower yours to about 3.5mm and 2.5mm, though, without buzzing. Please let me know if you'd like for me to do that.

I am very happy with this guitar.
The primary reason for choosing this model is the side sound port. I am in my 70s and have age related hearing loss. Unfortunately my hearing aids are designed to help clarify human voice, not music. Myself and other players I know always remove their hearing aids when playing or listening to music. The side port on the Alhambra PT models enable the PLAYER to hear the full volume and range of tonality otherwise not possible.
There are very few guitar makers (except expensive luthiers) that include a side port. Alhambra is moving in the right direction by including this option with their mid-range models.

The LR5 has been an experience for me. I have other nylon string guitars but this instrument really demonstrates the difference between a nylon guitar and a CLASSICAL instrument. The voice is so balanced through the mids and highs that at first you really hear your errors. The sound reflector adds to that feeling that says hey, you are gonna have to really practice now! :)
The quality of tone is truly impressive. The sound reflector adds a whole new dimension to the player experience. You can hear these beautiful harmonics and just a symphony going on inside the guitar.
Absolutely love the instrument. Geoff did a great job setting it up. It played perfectly right out of the box.

Amazing guitar! Sound port makes instrument much louder. Great colors, very playable. For the price, you can't get better than Alhambra. Would definitely purchase again!
