The Mengual y Margarit Serie C Classical Guitar is a truly world-class concert instrument. It's tone is absolutely beautiful, with fluid and piano-like tone. This guitar is shockingly loud, with very strong, clear basses. It is built in a very small workshop that is its own independent operation from the rest of the Alhambra facility. In this workshop, master luthiers Javier Mengual and José Margarít build this guitar from start to finish with the utmost care and artistry. (Click here to hear the pronunciation of "Alhambra".)
The Mengual y Margarit Serie C classical guitar has thicker sides and back (3mm vs 2mm), giving it more volume and sustain. Because of this, it is slightly heavier than a standard guitar. The top is thinner than standard, giving it very powerful volume and projection. The Serie C differs from the Serie NT only in that it uses a Lattice bracing pattern, giving it it's particular tonal qualities.
The Alhambra Mengual y Margarit Serie C features Alhambra's ErgoNeck. The ErgoNeck is the result of the continuous research developed by Alhambra Manufactures to improve the ergonomics of the neck. Thus, we can favor the position of the left hand. Due to its asymmetric shape, the ErgoNeck can be adapted in a more natural way to the guitarist. (See illustration above.)

I have played the guitar for over 45 years, and have had much professional experience in various groups and as a solo artist. During this time I have played and owned many great guitars, mostly high quality steel string instruments. Recently I have re-kindled my interest in the classical style and in nylon string guitars, and have tested many and own several.
The Alhambra Series C, which I recently purchased through Geoff at XGuitars, is a wonderful inspiring, instrument, and is certainly among the best guitars I have ever played.
The tone is gorgeous and nuanced, with a bold expressiveness. It has a magical combination of power and delicacy. As such , it is suited to many styles of music.
This guitar has that indescribable, yet real, quality that inspires passion for music.
My wife is a professional musician who has listened to countless hours of my playing over the years.
She immediately noticed a difference in my playing related to this guitar. True love.
Along with refined and elegant qualities of construction, it has an ergonomic neck design which brings great playability to the experience.
Geoff advised me on the purchase of this instrument and I found his advice to be right on, and the service excellent.
I heartily recommend this Alhambra Series C guitar, which in my opinion is a fine value for the price.
I was introduced to Geoff Ferdón about a decade or so ago by our mutual friend, the late great guitarist Philippe Bertaud. At that time, Philippe was determined to get me playing an Alhambra guitar. I soon received a phone call from Geoff, who coordinated with Alhambra Guitars to grant me a full artist endorsement. Within days, Geoff provide me with a beautiful Luthier Signature guitar. I loved that Spruce Top Signature - it was a true workhorse of an instrument.
That first Alhambra Guitar is currently in the hands of a very worthy student. Now my main guitar is a 2016 Mengual and Margarit Signature Model C. It is a remarkably beautiful sounding guitar with an enormous voice, ideal for my guitar and flute duo, as it balances with the flute perfectly. Last month I received from Alhambra a new Cedar Top Linea Professional. This is a stunning guitar - it is lightening fast to play, has a beautiful esthetic, and sings with a bold and sustaining “Spanish” voice. The addition of the factory installed Fishman E8 preamp system makes it the perfect guitar when playing larger venues, as it amplifies effortlessly.
My professional career was considerably altered by the generosity, kindness, and sincerity of Geoff. His attention to detail, product knowledge, and desire to serve the customer is greater than all other on-line retailers combined.
I am forever grateful to Geoff and Alhambra Guitars, and I will never forget our dear friend, Philippe Bertaud.
Classical Guitarist, Serenade Duo
It has a powerful volume projection with clear sustain and excellent harmonics. The guitar has a beautiful design with an elegant finish and details. The basses are clear and the trebles are crisp, lively, and loud with Savarez (540J) strings, which it is now a preference. The guitar can also give you a powerful, warm and sweet sound with the ProArte EJ46 strings. So there is versatility for any preference. The Alhambra M&M C series is very easy to play, and its sound echoes throughout the house. It is very responsive if I play more aggressively. My wife and son have a great time as a family listening to some Spanish tunes. I really love this guitar!
The company XGuitars has impressive customer service and it is exemplary. The information I received from XGuitars concerning this guitar was accurate and free of hype. The purchase process was very professional. Geoff patiently answered my questions for several days, and I never felt pressured at all. Buying my first concert Luthier Spanish guitar was a big deal for me, and I am glad I chose XGuitars. I highly recommend it.
